2004 Car Insurance Rates by State

Car insurance rates vary a great deal from state to state. Over time, the rates from one state can fluctuate due to legislation or demographic shift. The following tables show the average rates for each state for the years 2004 through 2010.

Car insurance data 2004:
The Average expenditure is equal to the Total written premium / liability car years. A car year is equal to 365 days of insured coverage for a single vehicle. The NAIC does not rank state average expenditures and does not endorse any conclusion drawn from this data.
