Technically, CGU Insurance is no longer.

CGU Insurance went through quite a transformation between 2005 and 2010. CGU was originally the combination of General Accident Insurance (GA) and Commercial Union Insurance Company (CU). When they combined, they formed CGU. Later the group became known as OneBeacon Insurance.

In December 2009 OneBeacon sold the renewal rights to its non-specialty Commercial Insurance business to The Hanover Group. The transaction included small commercial accounts and the nonspecialty portion of the middle-market business, beginning with January 1, 2010, effective dates.

In July 2010 OneBeacon sold its Personal Insurance business to Tower Group Companies. If you have a OneBeacon auto, homeowners or package policy, your policy become part of Tower Group.
