Adriatic Insurance Company was incorporated on June 12, 1979 under the laws of Delaware and began writing business on April 15, 1980. Effective October 1, 1992 the Company redomesticated to North Dakota.

Adriatic specializes in writing commercial automobile physical damage coverage primarily for local and long-haul trucking, taxicabs and limos, and special automobile risks. They also write broad form motor truck cargo, maximum limits $100,000.

Currently (February 2011) Adriatic is licensed in Delaware, Nevada, New Mexico and North Dakota; operations elsewhere are conducted on an excess and surplus lines basis.
